Rachel Brice is such an inspiration. Although, I think her performance at the tribal dance retreat (don’t remember the exact name)...you know, the one all over utube…is better than the one on the DVD. It’s a very ‘superstarish’ version of her dance with camera cuts all the time and jumpy camera switches to the music. Isn’t she amazing without it? I find it EXTREMELY distracting.
However, I absolutely LOVE her instructional video. Optional instruction (no voice), and 15, 30 and 45 min practice. I can fit it into my day, if only I had the space! How frustrating.
I purchased Rachel Brice’s instructional DVD and so far it’s very inticing. I was very excited to learn that it contains many yoga moves on top of belly dance drills for muscle movement. I’m very excited.
I’m signed up for private lessons…and I needed even more hours on top of that to finish my independent study, so I also went to a couple of her dance classes. For some reason I’m quite confortable in her class. It might be that I worked with the instructor privately first (so she knows my weaknesses and strengths…and how to best communicate mistakes and their corrections) or it could be the overall atmosphere in the class.
I’m sad to say that when college classes start I won’t be able to continue taking the regular dance class. However, I’ll still be continuing my private lessons and now that all three girls in the house (roommates) are taking the lessons with me, it’s almost like a minature class itself. ;) I bet my instructor appreciates that.
