There are a few interrelated items on my list I realize – this one plus “get in shape” plus “get a bike” and even “learn a martial art” are all sort of connected – but my desire to be more physically active and my desire to get in shape are actually two separate things in my mind.
Yes, I’d like to look better and wear smaller sizes or whatever else relates to “shape”, but the desire to be more active is a desire all its own too. I want to feel my body working as it is intended to, I want to be more present in my body and feel it move and allow it to stretch and jump and stroll and do all the things it was made to do.
I think I will start doing my yoga and pilates videos again since the much talked about yoga with friends doesn’t seem to ever get off the ground. I already walk a lot rather than bus it but I am going to make a conscious effort to do this more – I might even take planned walks with no destination in mind more too. Then, when I get a bike, I’ll have another opportunity to incorporate more activity in a new way.
I look forward to the feeling of my muscles and lungs working and that feeling you get after expending energy – that feeling of being really alive…
