learn to play bass

I mean, at what point is this “thing” accomplished? Similar to other “things”, I’ll specify a point where I will feel I’ve completed this. The best way I can think of for now would be to get all the way through Bass for Dummies. Sure, I won’t have Chris Squire begging me for lessons, but it’s a start.

I bought my first bass almost 20 years ago in Japan while stationed there. It was a very lonely instrument, as bass is not popularly known as a solo instrument (but some of us know better). After leaving Japan and going to Tampa, Fl, I hooked up with a couple guitarists and a drum machine and played a few small parties. It was some of the greatest fun I’ve ever had, despite my marked lack of skill. Later (years), I picked up a GTL guitar and took some lessons, but my first love is the bass. I just love a good bass line thumping my heart into arrythmia. So, I’ve picked up “Bass for Dummies” and am working on building my skills whenever I have the chance.
