Finished the first three lessons in the course. I’m now a little more knowledgeable about aperture, shutter speed, depth of field… I don’t feel so bad about my camera purchasing decision anymore. Since I can pretty much make it 100% manual, if I wish, there really is nothing holding me back. So far, so good.

I’ve gotten just enough experience to realise I should have gone with a Canon Digital Rebel instead of the S2IS. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great camera. And it should fit the bill for awhile. My knowledge of cameras wasn’t enough to distinguish the difference between a fully manual capable point-and-shoot like mine and an SLR. Oh well… Maybe I can save up a few hundred extra, sell this one on E-bay, and get the SLR. Until then, I better master my Paintshop Pro skills.
My NYI course got here a couple of hours ago. My first impression is terrific! I especially like the accompanying tapes that walk you through each lesson, practically page by page. There’s also a DVD included to actually show some of the concepts in action. Already finished my first lesson, which is pretty much on developing your eye as a photographer. This is gonna be fun.
Hoping I’ll get my initial lessons from NYI (New York Institute of Photography (nyip.com)) today. My mother took the course and highly recommended it. Just bought a new Canon Powershot 5 MP a couple of weeks ago and I’m dying to use it to it’s full potential. Maybe this can turn into some added income as well. I’ve already had requests to buy some of my pics if I were to put them in greeting card form or poster (as I did with one of them). Here’s one of them that I messed around with in Paintshop Pro. Look at it in expanded view to see how weird it is. This is the one I made into a poster.
