Make my bed every day

I stayed at my mother in law’s, but made the bed, does that count? Still doing a crappy job at home

woohoo!

Not coincidentally, it was the two days I woke up on time! It was so nice to come home to a made bed.

I made it this morning, with fresh sheets, even. Waking up on time changes EVERYTHING. Yay!

My son said to me this morning, “Maybe we should switch, and I’ll make your bed, and you make mine. Mine’s a little smaller, so maybe you could do it” Ouch. Luckily, he moved right to, “And also, what do bugs eat?” so I didn’t have to explain why Mommy’s CAPABLE of making a bed, just doesn’t ever do it.

Except for when I’ve changed the sheets, I haven’t made the bed yet in 2006. Yikes! But on the upside, my 4-year-old has made his every day!

If my goal were to get my four year old to make his bed every day, I’d be all set. I convinced him to start “racing” with me every morning to see who could make his or her bed first. I discovered last night that he has been getting up in the middle of the night, making his bed, and sleeping on top of the covers. I still haven’t made my bed yet in 2006. Tomorrow!!

My little one is graduating from a fire truck bed to a big-boy bed for Christmas, so I am thinking that starting right after Christmas, he and I can both make our beds at the same time, or maybe race or something. He has never had to make his fire truck bed, and I only make my bed when I change the sheets, so we both need to learn to do it. When I was growing up, my mom always got on my case to make my bed, but hers was NEVER made; it built some resentment. So that’s my great idea, to learn a new habit along with a pre-schooler, but I have to start somewhere, right??
