The Betty — 1 year ago
I forgot to wite an entry about it, because the dessert itself was so forgettable, but my photo of the apple betty was on the allrecipes.com home page today. So I am totally considering myself a celebrity now.

Haven’t had a chance to taste it; I loathe pie. But here is the photo. I took it out of the oven and set it on the stove to cool. Unfortunately, I had left a burner on the stove, so stupid me, I was burning the bottom of my pie instead of cooling it, so the bottom got all nasty while the top looked just fine. Had my kicthen not started reeking from the burny-ness, I wouldn’t have even known. Nice.
The shriveled little volcanos at the end were not worth the anxiety of worrying about my oven exploding with a cup of brandy baking at 400* for an hour. Pass.
These were OK, the apples could have been softer. Husband liked the dumplings better than the crisp, but the kids just ate the breading and left the apple. I need to keep trying, we haven’t found a winner yet
This one was pretty well received, it has a crust at the top and the bottom, all crumbly and yummy. It wasn’t AMAZING but I’d be OK serving it to company.
