How I learn to love books 2 years ago

My mom used to ready to my sister, brother, and me every night. I loved when we would all crawl into her bed and we would read a story. She let us pick the story. I think that is when I learned to love reading. When I was old enough to read my mom would sit and listen to me read her the story. I would read to anyone who would listen. I loved all the different places you could go, the people you could be, and the things you could learn from books. It paid off for my parents to start early with us. I learned to love learning and did really well in school. I got a scholarship to college (even got my master’s degree) and became the first person in my family to go to college (a dream of my mother’s). She didn’t go to college and she didn’t know how to go about getting her kids into college (I had to find out about applications, scholarships, and all of that on my own), but she knew it had something to do with reading and reading has something to do with doing well in school. I want my children to love books and learning as much as I did. I feel as though that will help them reach all of their goals that they will have in the future and help them to achieve a better life than I have. I think every parent wants their child to have a better life than they were able to provide. Also, I hope my child gets joy from reading. I know all of this starts now, by spending time reading to my son.
