venture into the world of medium format film

i’m not even well into half of my first roll of film ;/

thanks to an x-mas present from my parents i can now use 120 film. i’m excited. i’m scared. i’ve been shooting safely with 135 for… well, forever. opening the box and seeing this inside:

made me apprehensive. i had seen it around on the website and fell in love with the soft, romantic touch it added to each photograph. but that was it. i didn’t really want to purchase it. gifts are gifts so 1) my parents gave it to me with the full intention of believing i would enjoy it and 2) it was free. i can’t complain. they even bought me five rolls of medium format film as well.

i realize that taking on the task of shooting with this camera poses another dilemma- developing the film. my father passed down his old canon to me and always urged me to process my own film. i am undecided right now as to whether i will get the chemicals to do this, call my dad up to help me, or just be lazy and mail it off to a professional lab. i’m leaning towards that last one ;/
