I am so very happy to see this go from two TED talks to a bonafide item, quickly and easily purchased, through Amazon.com! (As if I needed another reason to love Amazon.)
This is where I first heard of it:
I obviously can’t afford this myself. I don’t even think I could swing one anytime soon without causing some serious rent-paying or grocery-buying problems for myself. But that’s the beauty of college, I suppose. As the president of a club, I can easily create a program through which club members can fundraise. I haven’t decided what kind of program(s) we should use – I can mirror Run For Kids and do a running program or we can do a kind of one time event where we all get together and volunteer our talents and/or manhours, like a carwash or bake sale – there are dozens of ideas. The important thing for me is to get the Geography Club excited about this innovative way to help others, igniting both a passion for service and an appreciation for innovative solutions to the world’s problems.
I think a reasonable goal for a club our size is to fund five laptops by the end of the academic year. Obviously, I also hope to be a little contagious around the 43T community as well! ;)
