Become a professional photographer

Its been a long while since I wrote here, a long time
I am now working in South Africa setting myself up as a photographer. I am fortunate enough to be working in the property world, photographing beautiful homes, and its earning me a living.

I moved out to South Africa to start a new life, set up a company and make it successful and quickly.
Its been particularly hard as I my wife is in London waiting to come out here when I am making enough money to support us both
(what an incentive to work hard, I’m missing her terribly)

However, I have a company Positive Negatives Marketing, I have a car, I have my wifes apartment in Cape Town, and I have a few clients who really like my work
So I can pretty much say
YES I’VE BECOME A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER

I do some wedding photography and photograph commerical properties, for management companies, but its a slow process. The highs are the trips to Tuscany for 5 days at a time, driving through stunning countryside and sampling great wine and food when the sun is too high for photos.
The lows are chasing up potentical clients and cold calling people, showing your portfolio for the n+1th time.

Its a passion, its a joy, it also has the potential to make my hobby a chore, but I’d give up my eye teeth to sell my wildlife photos and get a commission to work for the winter months in Botwsana and Namibia.
