A good start 2 years ago

Three trips to the gym in the last five days, which is probably my best hit rate since Christmas. Tomorrow’s a public holiday here, so it should be quite easy to turn that into four from six.

The benefits to my physical health and mood are apparent very soon after I start exercising regularly… I’m so much more relaxed and have far more energy than when I live like a slob.

The trick for me is being disciplined enough to go on the days when I can, and using unstructured opportunities for exercise rather than taking the easy way out. As examples:

(1) it would have been much better for me to walk the kilometer from the tram stop to my home in the sunshine this evening than sit around waiting for a bus to take me just one stop;

(2) it would be great if I climbed the four flights of stairs to the office every morning rather than catching the lift; and

(3) why not walk up and down the Metro escalators, rather than leaving all the work to the escalator?

I have no excuses, so I will aim to do each of these things for the next week and see how much better I feel at the end of it.
