I've got a clean, tidy car! 2 months ago

For the first time ever I have a clean car in which I can find stuff easily. Shopping bags, sunglasses, keys, sunscreen, exercise clothes & shoes, library books, doggie leashes & poop bags, and even a trash “can” (plastic cup) all have an assigned spot so they’re easy to find! This is the coolest thing ever.

Now I can give a ride to someone when I need to, without feeling embarrassed and having to clear off the seat first. I no longer have to bring home plastic bags from the grocery store just because I forgot to bring a bag. No more frantic key searches, or stuff flying all over the car when I have to break suddenly. Awesome!

Mission Accomplished: Car Empty! 2 months ago

I’m starting over with a clean slate :o) But first, I’m off to the car wash! Yee-haw :o)

Cleaning out the rest today 2 months ago

Today’s the day to remove the rest of the stuff that really shouldn’t be in my car. It’s unbelievable how stuff accumulates.

Later this afternoon I’m taking my car in to get detailed. It’s expensive but this is my reward for getting the job done!

Goodness, how we bury ourselves in clutter.

Getting organized 3 months ago

Now that some of the stuff has been removed it was time to move some of it back in, only in a more organized fashion.

While cleaning out my closet the other day (another long-term project) I came across two travel laundry hampers I still had from days of yore. Was going to donate them, but then the lights came on! A three-compartment storage hamper that doesn’t weigh anything to speak of, and folds flat when not in use… perfect as a car trunk organizer!

Now one compartment holds my exercise clothes (I’ve never really been happy with the duffel bag I’ve been using)... one holds those shopping bags I can never find when I need ‘em… and the third is still empty.

There’s also room in my trunk for a bag of “thrift shop stuff”: one lesson I learned a long time ago is that if I can get it out of the house right away, I won’t miss it or decide to maybe not give it away quite yet. So the bag is always in my car and whenever I stop by the thrift store I can unload. Go me.

My trunk now looks organized, wow what a concept. Soon I’ll be able to wash my car without having to go into crisis mode because all the junk makes it impossible to clean the floors & upholstery :o)

Still a bunch of stuff left to clear out though. I bet my gas mileage will go up exponentially :o)

Slow Progress 3 months ago

Instead of cleaning out everything at once and having piles of stuff all over the house, I’ve been taking out one item/bag full of stuff at a time and actually putting everything away. Slow progress but better than just moving the mess around :o)
