Husband sez... 4 months ago

... I wasn’t crabby this month. Hm, might the new plan be working?

Lesson Learned 3 years ago

With the heat I haven’t felt like eating anything other than ice cream and fruit. Bad me! So with all the dairy I’ve been consuming it’s no wonder that I should find myself super-PMSy and now with cramps so bad I have hot flashes. Scary stuff. Lesson learned: dairy is bad for me. No more dairy = no more PMS and no more killer cramps. Stay away from ice cream Procrastinatress.

PMS? What PMS? 3 years ago

I’ve been positively euphoric instead of PMS-y. Wow, my new diet (that’s diet as in food, not diet as in weight loss) rocks!!! Ever since I stopped consuming dairy, I’ve been craving veggies and fruit—something which was hitherto unthought of! Also, I’m rarely hungry any more, and I’m SO HAPPY! So happy, in fact, that I’ve started wondering whether maybe it’s something other than the change in diet.

To be continued…

Slipped... 3 years ago

... and fell, but got back up. Ate an entire bowl of cereal with milk… but now I’m back on track. Breakfast today consisted of smoked wild salmon, spring greens with a roasted pepper dressing, and whole grain toast. Go me!

It's hard... 3 years ago

... But I’m doing well so far. I so love dairy, this is a really tough step for me. I almost caved in twice so far, once with yogurt and once with a pizza my husband was eating… I resisted though. No more dairy for me. I want to go dairy-free for a month and see what it does; then if I decide I can’t live without I’ll switch to organic only. See “Womens’ Bodies, Womens’ Wisdom” for a detailed explanation…

Step 1 3 years ago

(The order of the steps is totally arbitrary… I picked the thing I wanted to start with solely based on a gut feeling).

The first step is to give up dairy and red meat. No, I’m not on my way to becoming a vegetarian. At least not yet, hehe. I have been eating dairy and red meat free for a few days now and have to say that it feels good. Can’t describe what exactly is different, I just feel lighter somehow. This is an AMAZING feat for me since dairy has been a huge part of my diet. Not so much red meat, I rarely ever ate any red meat anyway. However I LOVE LOVE LOVE anything dairy… but for some reason it was easy to give up. We’ll see how this goes.

How To... 3 years ago

I’ve been reading “Womens’ Bodies, Womens’ Wisdom” by Christiane Northrup. She gives an extensive list of reasons why so many “civilized” women suffer from PMS. Since the rest of the book (the parts I’ve read so far) make utter and complete sense to me I decided to give this PMS thing a try. This will likely be a pretty drawn-out process with lots of struggles and second-guessing… watch this space :o)
