Learn another language

maybe french. I want to go to france sometime and it’d be nice to speak the language a little. I haven’t decided for sure what language to learn. In school I took latin and that’s usless for travel. I picked up a bit of Japanese from watching hours and hours of japanese tv dramas a few years ago. I was watching more japanese tv programs (in Japanese without any subtitles or anything) than I was american tv. I do kind of feel like i could probably learn it fairly easy since I have a real interest in it. But I want to travel to europe before I ever go to Japan, if I ever even go to Japan.
French and Japanese are both beautiful sounding languages to me. Very poetic sounding. Just beautiful to listen to even if you don’t know what’s being said. I always wonder how english would sound to me if it wasn’t my language.
spanish or portuguese would also be useful languages for me to learn. So, like I said, I’m having a hard time deciding what language to try to learn.
