I think we’re going a different route. Instead of making more money, we’re downsizing. So that our money will be enough until we can make more. We’re selling our house for a slightly smaller, less expensive home. That’s going to make so much of a difference. Once we are there we will build ourselves back up and see where we can go from there. My husband and I were tired of trying to wade, we were constantly threatened with drowning. Now we will float along. Less storage, yes. But more in so many more imporant areas.

This is hard. I am afriad we may lose the house. I’m actually pregnant. We’re happy but it was unexpected and we’re not financially ready. On the plus side…we have love.

Fairytales come true if you work hard 3 years ago

I got married almost two years ago to the love of my life. Unfortunately he’s spent a lot of the time being very ill. We didn’t know how it would be so we didn’t have a plan. No one tells you the truth about life and love and marriage.

I believed I’d work for a while and then become a housewife, have a baby, a woman who took care of her family, who painted now and then and maybe sold a children’s book somewhere down the line. I had to wake up and pay the mortgage. Prince Charming wasn’t going to save THIS lady.

So here I am. And wow, I have to admit I am really proud of myself. I am trying to build financial stability for me and my husband, all by myself. I’m selling paintings, learning web design, and I may get into the catering business with my mother. All I know is that by the end of this year I expect to be self reliant and give us less to worry about. We don’t want to be rich, we just want to be okay. This is the most important goal for me right now. And then once we’re okay I want to start investing for our future. But that’s another entry.

Wish me luck.
