More than menu Italian — 2 years ago
I must have made more individual visits to Italy than any other country apart from ones I was living in, and yet my Italian stays resolutely stuck on the familiar food terminology (pizza, pasta, cappuccino..) plus the basics for buying tickets and the odd souvenir. My level is hard to judge because I can understand everything I read and most of what I hear, unless spoken with an accent, but produce hardly a thing. So I have fixed myself the goal of improving my knowledge of Italian with a view to deciding in April 2006 whether to apply to take a translation qualification (that I already have in Spanish) in January 2007.
