Desire v. possibility

Had dinner with 2 other couples last night, and we were talking about “the next step” ie what we will do after we’ve paid the mortgages we all have on our first homes. I mentioned our dream of semi-rural living, and how impossible it seems to afford the land, as house prices are through the roof in/around Calgary. I fell asleep dreaming of our little homestead, and realized how badly I want it, rather than our current townhouse. Not sure how to get there though. Yes, we’re saving, but it will take about 15 years to afford the kind of place we want, at which point, the prices will be even higher. It just seems so impossible.
