My first 5K

I ran my first 5K last weekend. I couldn’t run the whole thing, ha to walk for some parts of it, but I ran for most of the time, which is a huge accomplishment for me. Once I can run an entire 5K, that’s 1/3 of the way to a triathlon, right?

I love how I have the most entries for this goal and am no where close to achieving it. :)



slowly getting there!

as of now, I am on week 7 of the beginnertriathlete.com couch-to-5k plan, which means I am actually running HALF the time. And for 3 whole minutes in a row, which is very likely the longest I have ever sustained a run in my life. Yes. it’s true.

I also rode my bike for 14.1 miles the other day, though it took forever. But in anycase, I’m getting to the point where I can actually DO the required things, so what’s next is to do them all in a row and do them faster :)



Running Program

It seems like a lot of the people who are doing this or who have done this are already pretty athletic, and just need to do minutes. But me, oh me, I cannot run for more than 2 minutes at a time, much less with any speed. BUT! Got started on the 4 month running plan + 4 month training plan from Beginner Triathlete, so a little bit on my way. I can’t wait 4 months to train bike and swim, though, so they have to go in the mix, too, because I doubt I can bike 13 miles and know I can’t swim a half mile. I’d like to be able to do the distances separately by around january or february, and then work on stringing them together and maybe time (though that may be too ambitious) during the spring and then do the triathlon in April or May. That’s the PLAN, anyway!



got back on my bike today

not a huge deal, but I haven’t done anything in a few weeks, so I’m trying to get back into it. My neighborhood pool closed for the winter (wtf), so I have to figure out where the one is at school. And I have blisters from just walking 3 miles yesterday, so how is running every gonna work…sigh. This goal is so ambitious for me, but at least it is fun and healthy, too!



me = awkward

Swimming is awkward, I feel so clumsy and out of control once I’m just a tiny bit tired.

Running…I can’t even run. I am using an elliptical machine now, and I am going to try a treadmill tomorrow, but seriously, I cannot run I get out of breath so fast and my form is probably terrible. How can I be 24 and not know how to run?

Biking is fine [gets hit by car]

BUT I AM GOING TO DO THIS ANYWAY!



From Wednesday

Swam 8 laps. so 266 yards—just need to triple it for a sprint distance triathlon. And then get it so I don’t have to rest between sets of 2 laps. But I’m up from resting at half a lap and only doing 6 so….
