time for editing software

Has anyone heard of / tried any open source video editing software. I found http://www.jahshaka.org/ from a google search but haven’t heard anything else about it. Anyone have a suggestion for a decent program? I don’t need insane functionality yet, just basic editing capability. I made a really short simple film and want to edit the sceens and merge them into one film. I don’t want to actually change it much, just cut and splice mainly. I would prefer to use something that works on Linux.
