Almost in the third trimester! 1 week ago

Still plodding along in my poor pregnancy. It has not been easy at all, unfortunately – I’ve had gestational diabetes, the flu, two bouts of bronchitis, thrush, and a bladder infection… SO FAR. Still have 14 weeks to go! I’m definitely ready to get off this crazy health roller coaster though…!

I’m very excited though. :) And getting very big. We found out the baby is a boy, and we are going to name him William, Liam for short. Couldn’t be happier about his arrival!

Due date is still 3/31. At my last ultrasound, he was measuring in the 40th percentile – GREAT NEWS since I have the diabetes trying to make him into the Hulk. We close on our brand new house on February 15th, so I can finally start decorating the nursery then! :)

S/he's coming...! 3 months ago

Right now I’m 11 weeks and 2 days pregnant. :) ALMOST past the 12 week safety line.

It hasn’t been easy. I didn’t find out until I was about 7 weeks along. I was really ill and nauseous. Then the test was POSITIVE! :) I have peed on so many of those damn sticks I was convinced they NEVER turn positive, haha. I went out and bought like 10 more just to be sure.

At any rate, at our first consultation appointment, the nurse advised me to quit taking Nexium (I have GERD) so that just made me sicker and sicker. I was having CONSTANT heart burn and reflux and blah, no fun. My actual OB told me I could go back on it last week and things have been a thousand times better since then! :) I’m still tired a lot, but much more comfortable.

I also found out I have gestational diabetes. It wasn’t terribly surprising considering my family history & the fact that I was overweight when I got pregnant. But still, to have it diagnosed this early is a bummer. I’m testing my blood sugars 4 times a day, and on a rather restrictive lower-carb diet.

Despite all the hassles of the diabetes, I am SO THRILLED to be pregnant. I honestly did not think it would just happen like this. Not for me. Not with PCOS, being overweight, and having a retroverted uterus. The doctors had told me I’d need fertility treatments. And then bam, I’m pregnant, just when I make peace with waiting several years before trying the fertility merry-go-round for a spin! It’s amazing. I feel very blessed and grateful. :)

I’m due March 31st!

Put on hold for a while. 10 months ago

I got diagnosed with PCOS (thanks for all the Just Relax advice… there’s no “relaxing” away a medical condition) last month. Since then, I’ve taken a hard look at my life and what I want out of it, and have decided to delay baby-making for a few years – probably 3 or 4.

I am only 26! I want to take some time to enjoy myself and my husband for a while. We just became 100% credit card debt free, and are now working on paying off our cars. Next year we’ll (finally) be able to buy the house we have wanted for forever. I want to enjoy some of that time without pressuring myself to have a baby.

Since I will likely need lots of medial intervention to conceive (at the very least fertility drugs…) in my particular case, I am going to wait until I am 100% ready for that – financially, emotionally, and physically. Having undiagnosed PCOS (and being pre-diabetic I found out!!!) has taken it’s toll on my health lately. I need to take care of that first and foremost, and ensure than in 3 years I am in good physical condition to handle pregnancy.

So! This one stays on the list for a little while longer. :) Someday though!

Ha. 11 months ago

We have been actively TRYING since September. 4 solid months and no baby.

I am no questioning the toll this has had on my mental health – along with other things going on in my life right now. Is this a good time to have a baby?

Of course there NEVER is a good time, is there? Hah.

Oh and making matters oh-so-much-more-fun is the fact that EVERY WOMAN I KNOW IS PREGNANT.

Gah.

Ho-hum. This might be happening earlier than planned!

Someday. 4 years ago

I’ve wanted to have a baby since we got married, really. But, I know that it would be better in the long run to wait a bit.

After we buy a house (in 2 more years) and can afford to live on half our income.

In the meantime, I can do stuff to prepare, I suppose.

Start saving money (good idea no matter what), pay off debt, finish school, finish projects/furnishing the house, keep up with my dentist appointments (no X-rays during pregnancy), take vitamins, exercise, limit alcohol, etc.

Sigh. Hopefully by the time I’m 26 we’ll be ready.
