I was sitting here wondering how does one know when you can take this off your list? Or is this really a lifelong goal?
I think I’ve been doing pretty good lately. I’ve made up for the last Christmas.
I hate to disappoint the people I care about. Now that I have married Catherine, its even more imperative to keep my promises. Its taken on a whole new meaning. For once in my 34 years I’m not living for just myself.
I guess you can call me a chauvanist…But I kinda take it as my role to take care of my family. To never let her (or any future additions) down. To make sure theyre provided for. And yes…to live up to all my promises.

It was all my fault…
I made a promise to my girlfriend that I would be home for Christmas. She was excited as well as the rest of the family.
So the other day I started looking into buying a ticket and I found a great price. So I come into work after two days off and someone else had blocked off the entire month of December and early January.
The unfortunate thing is I promised her Id be home before I got all the arrangements made. In the last 5 years this has never happened, nor did I ever expect it.
I need to start making sure I have everything taken care of on my end before I make these promises. With Christmas…you cant recreate it in January like you can make up a vacation.
Now I have to work everyday from Dec 11th to Jan 6th without a day off. I have no family where I live. Just me, the cat and dog. I deserve it, but she doesnt.
Now I think she may have doubts about other things and my intentions that Ive told her.
I am so so so sorry Catherine! I really f*ed this one up!
