"Compliments Journal"

The book editor at work told me today that my Hallmark book, Life Is Good At Grandma’s, sold great for Mother’s Day!

And they got 2 complimentary letters from grandmas (both from Australia, oddly) saying how much they liked the book!

One of them said, “You always wonder if all the things you do for your grandkids get noticed”...and getting the book made her feel like yes, they are noticed and appreciated. The other one said, “I’m sure this was written by a grandma.” The book editor noted, “I hope you take that as a compliment!”

Since my writing job at HMK is all about trying to understand what it’s like for different people, I definitely took it as such.

Yesterday, got told (by 3 different people) I have “cute shoes,” “pretty feet,” and “no wrinkles”! (The last was in the context of a skin care discussion…it would be a sort of weird thing to say out of the blue.)

Also, overheard my art director saying to someone, “Rose can take care of that, she’s the master at that.” I don’t even know what it was though :D

a friend said that in an email :o) She had asked me directly for advice on a career thing and I did my best!

In a New Concept Development staff meeting today, my boss said I do “amazing things”!

And then in my machine quilting class this evening, the teacher was going to show me what to do when seams don’t exactly line up. She had to take a few moments to find a place like that on my quilt top, and she said it was “pretty nicely pieced.” Yay! It really isn’t perfect, but I am getting better.

A coworker/friend (female!) said to me today, “You know you’re hot, right?...Your body is smokin’.”

Not really true, frankly, but it still made me feel good!

At work today a designer found out that I’ll leave the team before the end of the year and he was dismayed and cursed. I thought that was so sweet!

And then my art director talked about how I was good at coming up with solutions on the spot.
