one of the problems 3 years ago

one of the problems with a vegan diet is that you lower your good cholesterol—the HDL stuff.

one of the things my doctor had me do was increase my intake of good cholesterol. that means taking Omega-3 suppliments, and any food products with plant sterols.

there’s an orange juice that has plant sterols and a butter, too.

how did i do it? 4 years ago

i made a dramatic change in my eating habits. i became a vegan. i’ve been a vegan for almost 3 months now. (except for that slice of cheese pizza, a few weeks back, but that was a moment of temporary insanity).

if you eliminate animal fat and products from your diet, it really lowers your cholesteral. and actually, it’s easier than you think.

i followed the guidelines in this book.

update: 1 year later

i’m still mostly vegan, and still vegetarian. and my cholesteral is still low. my doctor has said that my “good” cholesterol is too low, so i’m taking plant sterols and flax seed oil to compensate.

people… diet is everything. if you animal fat from your diet, your cholesterol will go down.

Good results 4 years ago

Just got my cholesterol checked the other day (among other things). And, it’s going down. And, everything is at the borderline level, betweeen normal and risk. That’s a good thing.

The next phase is to keep going in the right direction. I’m taking some Omega-3 supplements, and plant sterols.
