10. Gas Prices — 3 months ago
The “cheap” gas station on my way to work yesterday; prices, of course, went up by the time I went home. (As a general rule, most other local stations are about $0.05-0.10/gal higher than this one.)

Dusk, New Year’s Eve
Neighbor’s house with palm fronds blowing in the wind
Today was the first time I’ve been to the SD WAP since the fires. It was sad to see how close to the WAP things were charred. I recall hearing on the news – during the chaos – that the fire was right across the street from the WAP. Fortunately, the animals and core park area made it through. (I seem to recall that only the condors had to be evacuated; everyone else stayed put.)
This is a view of my neighbors yard, taken today. (They have much nicer landscaping than I do, btw…)
2007 San Diego firestorm (early 10/23/07): This was taken from my backyard. You can barely see the twin set of nearby hills through the smoke. I have not had to evacuate, but have been concerned w/threats from fires on multiple fronts. My heart goes out to people around the county who’ve lost everything.
...as seen through my dirty windshield on Monday. People typically joke about the plant looking like a pair of boobs.
This is somewhat old, but still. Having a camera handy while driving is always a good thing!
