But it turns out it was just a rumor.
The 10 Day’s got nothing.

But for some reason I always associate that with winter. Oddly enough not summer or fall. Probably because in prior years I’d been in school and associate school with winter. Crazy.
Anyway, it’s kinda nice having essentially a whole goal to myself, since no one has posted on this since I last did a year ago. But I have all my ski gear at my place now, and I swear the first good snow we get I’m hoofing it over to Lincoln Park and I don’t care how stupid I look on the way.
nap, work on the paper, interview with pledge @ 7, then strap on the gear and hit up Lincoln park.
So now we have snow . . . but uber-amounts of studying and a sinus infection seem to be getting in the way. The good news: I’m going to student health tomorrow at 5 and getting something to clear this up, and then all I have to do is study. (which is easier said than done.)
It snow around here a little over a week ago, but it was so close to finals that I really never got over to Lincoln Park before it melted, despite the fact that I went downhill twice. Hopefully it’ll snow again sometime soon.
I did finally get a pair of Alpina Blazers, so it’s nice to not have to worry about old shoes.
I got the call from the ski tech’s tonight, and they tell me that the old planks turned out well. Dunno if that’s true or not as the shop closed up shortly after they called . . . sounds like a bad omen.
But yeah, I’ll be picking them up tomorrow and hopefully they knew what they were doing and didn’t treat them like alpines. I guess only time will tell on the wax job.
I always wonder why there are certain things that people just don’t seem to do in Chicago, and after last winter, I didn’t see anyone skiing along LSD on my way to and from class. Although strangely enough, I have seen two different people rollerskiing around downtown, but nothing in the winter by the lake. Perhaps the wind off the water is too much for most people. I guess we’ll just have to find out.
If it ever snows around here.
Yeah, so I own a pair of probably 170 K2’s. From the 1970’s. Yeah. Solid wood, no metal edges, three-pin Nordic Norm bindings. But yeah. They’re getting waxed right now and we’ll see how they do in the snow . . . when it happens. But yeah, if they do alright, who knows, maybe I’ll buy real skis. And by real skis I mean real cross country skis. But yeah, we’ll see how it goes . . .
