Getting accepted, getting in, being a law student.
I dream of passing the Bar and becoming the new attorney in the courtroom who’s still learning the ropes.
I dream of feeling hot in the face when the judge points out a mistake I made in my courtroom discourse. I dream of learning from those mistakes and overcoming them without shame.
I want a closet full of suits, a bank account full of money, a house full of furniture and food that is all my own.
I dream.
I dream of meeting a young client whose done something horrible and thinks there’s no hope, and then I tell him I believe in him.
I don’t want to hear the voices of those who say I can’t do it or can’t make it or that I am foolish to believe in myself.
My voice is louder than theirs because I believe I can.
I have dreams. I chase my dreams. I hope one day to live my dream.

I dream I have a car that has windshield wipers that squirt when I pull the little lever by the steering wheel, instead of just making a dry grinding sound, even when the wiper fluid is full.
The right headlight wouldn’t be dimmer than the left, and both would be bright enough so they’d actually be bright, so I wouldn’t have to rely on the lights of the car behind me to see.
It wouldn’t slow down going up hills.
It would have a sun roof, and the air conditioning/radio panel would light up at night so I could see the dials.

DON’T GET ME WRONG- I LOVE my little car… but does it hurt to dream?

I dream of having enough money to go to the mall and not worry about the what the price tags say. . . enough money that I wouldn’t have to pinch pennies at the pump when the needle next to my speedometer sinks from F to E.

My house would have a huge lawn and a small flower garden by the door. Inside the house would have a nice family room with my Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice quadruple-matted in a gigantic oak 6’x3’frame on the wall. On the other side of the house would be a sunny dining room, where I’d invite my mom over for tea. In my spare time, I’d add to the enormous model HO scale train layout I’d be building in my basement.

There’d be a railroad track marking the property line on the edge of my backyard, and long freight trains with a hundred cars or more would regularly meander down the line. I’d sip lemonade on my deck and watch them go by. I’d wave and they’d toot for me. Meanwhile, the neighbor’s kids would be splashing around in my swimming pool and all their mom’s would come over on weekends and tell me I’m nicer than all of their husbands.

And come Monday, I’d have to be up early for court because I’d be a full-time criminal attorney making a 6-digit salary.
