toilet train my cat

charlemagne was been using the bathtub! the worst was when he pooed in the drain. i reintroduced the litter box as a means to stop this. it hasn’t worked. i think i’ll put the metal bowl back in the toliet and try again.

i must say i am quite disheartened. it’s like things were ok when he used the litter box. they would be great if he used the toliet. but as things stand now, they’re bad. he’s using the tub.

sooo the past few days i have removed litter everytime i saw doodie in the bowl. today was the first day i experimented with no litter. i just went in the bathroom and there was pee in the metal bowl. sooo he used to use whatever place had litter. now he has learned in the presence of no litter to use the bowl. so hopefully the removal of the bowl is only a hop skip and a jump away.

it’s possible that he would use it now if i took it out, but i won’t be around to be sure. that AND a setback right now would be so disheartening. i think it’s just better to move at snail speed.

I haven’t been around the house much this week, so the toliet training is going really slow. i have the metal bowl in the toliet and i’ve been taking a little out everytime i clean it. i guess i’ll just keep taking litter out until there isn’t any and then take the metal bowl out. ...

i had charlemagne locked away all day because i didn’t want to risk him using the other litter box. finally after hours and hours he dropped a deuce in the metal bowl. the whole day i’ve felt sure that he dookied under the bed, in the bed, or on a pile of clothes. he’s awesome. my faith in teaching him had fallen so low, hearing him scratching the bowl was like music to my ears. my hopes are high again. he’s smart, he’ll learn if i’m patient enough to teach him.

sooo charlemagne didn’t use the toliet. he didn’t go almost all day, then sometime at night he snuck in my roommate’s room and used her litterbox. at least he didn’t use the towels. i wasn’t going to be home so i put the litterbox back on the toliet for the rest of night. i came home this morning and put more litter in the bowl. i tried to coax him into it with a treat. i’m trying to supervise today. i really think if he has to go bad enough he’ll want to use the bowl just because it has litter in it. i had my first doubts that he could learn last night, but i can’t give up. it would definately be worth it to throw away the litter box.

i’ve been using the diy approach and trying to teach him on my own. today i put the metal bowl in the toliet. i don’t know how he’s going to take it. he was interested but i don’t know that he’ll really use it. up until this point he has moved swiftly through all the transitions and i have high hopes that today he’s going to poo in the bowl. if he does, well i guess i’ll be a proud mama showing everyone.
