I rang the bank this morning and had my card activated.
As promised, my first transaction on it was giving a kiva.org loan.

I got my card today (woohoo!), but I still need to activate it. Well, they suggested to use my mother’s birthday as activation code, but I thought, no, I’ll use bf’s birthday.
So when I rang the line just now to activate the card (and finally do my first Kiva.org loan!), I hesitated on the first attempt, entered my bf’s birthday on the second and my mom’s on the third attempt, and still I entered the wrong code. So on Monday, I’ll have to ring the line and speak to a real person to give them my mom’s maiden name.
And you wonder why I didn’t get a card until now.
Twice this week, a mail delivery service left a message about a failed delivery in my mailbox. So I’ll pick up whatever it is on Saturday. I think it’s the card, I’m not expecting any other delivery for which I have to show an ID.
When he requested his card, all he needed to do on that day was fill in my name to get a second card on his account.
When I rang the other day to find out why they hadn’t sent the request forms yet, they told me that he and I have to show up in person, along with copies of my salary statements and my passport. So I said, if you make it this difficult to get a card, my business will go elsewhere. And so I have downloaded a request form from my own bank, printed it, filled it in and sent it to their CC services, along with said copies. But I don’t have to take time off work to get a stinking credit card.
Now I’m waiting for the approval and the card itself. I need it by the end of March!!!
...as I want to request an extra card in my name on his account. He sent the forms request off to the bank. Now we are waiting for the forms for the formal application.
