Technically, my goal for this was to do it for one year, and as of yesterday, I’ve accomplished that. My little girl has never had formula, only Mommy’s Milk and food, for one year. Just the last couple weeks I’ve started mixing Mommy’s Milk and whole cow’s milk in her bottles to see if she would make the transition, and tonight she took a bottle of just cow’s milk when she didn’t nurse for very long. So I think the weaning might come sooner than I thought, which is both exciting and bittersweet.
Anyway, all you mommies, keep it up!
This has been going great! After the return to work at 8 weeks (I pump 2-3 times per day for her two bottles at day care and nurse her on my lunch hour) and a long struggle with clogged ducts, we’re sailing smooth. LOVE that I don’t have to worry about formula!
This is going well. I’m back at work, and pumping twice a day there. I’ve realized this goal is about not having to feed my child formula, not necessarily nursing exclusively. But I nurse as much as I can.
I really am amazed at the amount of dedication it takes to breastfeed, and I’m so very glad I have the support of my husband and my boss and other people in my life. And of course, that I can look at my little girl and know that I’m doing the best thing I can for her.
So far, so good. Baby is eating well, and growing strong. My breasts are still somewhat tender, but it is improving. Her mouth is just so little!
I’ve also started pumping, so hubby can feed her from a bottle now and then, which gives me more sleep!
I’m nervous and excited about this. Mostly, I’m nervous about trying to keep it up after I go back to work. I REALLY want to give my baby all the nutrients I can from my body, but being at work 8 hours a day will definitely put a damper on getting it done. I have 3 more months to do research, but I won’t know until the little one is here, and then a good couple of months before I’m back at work.
Wish me luck, all.
