Visited on July 21, 2005, and was shocked and disappointed to see the unkempt condition- just some old silk flowers on top of the headstone, grave area was fenced off & inaccessible forcing us to throw the roses we brought onto the grave. We were not allowed to sit down or lean on a tree. I lifted a toast of red wine to Jim’s memory and was chased off by a French rent a cop. Non-American tourists lightheartedly posed with headstone in background, a real carnival of disrespect; turned the act into an event more about themselves than paying homage to the deceased. Grave itself was merely a desecrated empty concrete square. Sad. Outraged by the scene. Bring Jim Home where he belongs!
