I ditched my car when I got to the Bay area. Weve found that we dont need one car let alone two and if we had to we could get either a zipcar or a cityshare car. Im saving close to $600 a month between car payment, insurance and gas. A monthly bus pass is only $70.
I also tried to become more flexible and learn how to shop in places that I am not used to . Instead of running to the Target, which is a 40 minute round trip, Ive been exploring the stores around my house. I may have to go into a couple of different ones, but since I would be walking by anyway, it doesnt add that much time.
I am also switching my wardrobe from a treny one to one that has more classic pieces. This way I can spend $100 on a blazer and not feel bad, because I can wear it casually with jeans, or dress it up with a pair of heels and a nice top. Plus I am saving room in my closet.

I take all of the change out of my purse when I come home at night. If I have money in my pocket I have a tendency to want to spend it with the thinking, “its only a dollar.” If I dont have the change on me, I wont go to the ATM and take out a 20 just to get a cup of coffee.
Then I started making coffee at work instead of buying it. I can make a $6 bag of ground coffee last about a month with just drinking a ccup a day.

Skiing is super expensive. A lift ticket during the day is around $40 at the smaller place and $50 at the one a little closer. Season passes are around $400. So if you ski 11 times, the season pass will save money. I found a package deal for beginners that for $300 gave 6 hours of lesson and then a season pass. I saved close to $300 by purchasing it, since the lessons alone would have been close to $200.

I finally found a driing rack this weekend. I am wondering how many loads of laundry I will have to do to make up for the $20 I spent on this rack.

I would also like to start making yogurt. I think I can make twice as much for the same cost of what Im buying, but have no idea how to do this. Some research is needed

1. I learned how to knit, crochet, and bead. Now when I see a sweater, hat or scarf that I really like and want, I find a way to make it myself. I can make a great sweater for under $40 and this is saving me a ton of money. Plus it gives me something to do. I always have yarn left, so once a year or so I can get a striped scarf out of scrap yarn and a present for someone for free.

2. I am now unplugging everything that I can at home when I am finished with it, including the tv. Ive started turning off my computer instead of putting it in hybernation.
