Working to live, not living to work. 3 years ago

I read other peoples’ entries on here, and I suppose the minimum of saving expenses would be 3 months, true? Well, my 3 month living expenses would be approximately $2,944.68. Is this bad? Too much? I think that would be nice to see in my account one day. hehehe I guess it depends where you are on the map. Well, I have 3 bank accounts, 2 of which includes savings accounts. One would include the 3 month savings expenses, and the other two would have at least $1000 in each. The 2 savings accounts would be for short and medium length savings goals, like things I would like to buy, or splurge on. I have also 2 credit cards, and the balances would be paid off on the both of them. I have a 401(k) with my job, and Jan. 1, ‘07, I’m starting another plan, a Roth IRA, and I’m going to also purchase a CD. Also, (I wish he shut up already is what ur thinking huh), I’m going to open my ING account. But just a little at a time though. I just wanna be ready….for whatever comes.

ED. NOTE: My dad worked 20+ yrs for his job, to make a long story short, and I know he isn’t the only one this has happened to, but he was laid off. And had nothing to show for all of those hard years of work. Now, he has nothing. Financially anyways. By any means am I one of those people who wants money all the time, ‘cause believe me, if we/people didn’t need it to live, I wouldn’t care. But, I just don’t wanna end up like him. With nothing.

“Always expected the unexpected.”
