The Good and The Bad 16 months ago

“When you can soak in the good and the bad and know that it’s all good.”-SG

The full context of that quote can be found where I am asking her how you know when you’ve completed this goal. It can be found here

And so I’m responded to that yet again, after thinking it over so more. But I want to focus more on that idea of accepting both the good and the bad.

Now, we all want what’s good. Any sane person does. We all want happiness. But life is not always happiness. Sometimes life is suffering. And yet with any suffering always comes ceasation. All things are eventually ceased. Everything is temporary. All things in time will be resolved, and all things must pass.

So the key is to find contentment. There can be contentment in the happiness. But there can be a sort of contentment from the ceasation of suffering. A contentment from resolution. A contentment from relief. There will always be challenges in life, but there can be contentment in overcoming the challenges. And where the challenges cannot be overcome, there can be a contentment in resolution which is an overcoming of sorts.

I don’t know that this goal can be completed, or finalized, as it’s so ongoing, but I can be content with my understanding.

And God bless SG for her wisdom.

Donations for charities and causes 18 months ago

With my excess money, I’ve donated to The Alzheimer’s Assoc., The Red Cross, The Obama Campaign, The Topfree Equal Rights Assoc., The Naturist Action Committee, An animal shelter, and I plan to also donate to a domestic abuse and sexual assault center.

What I receive, I will give and put to good use, until I receive again and give and put to good use, and once again receive, and then give and put to good use. And it will be good to receive and then give and put to good use. And so will it be.

Responding to these words of wisdom: 19 months ago

“When you soak in the good and the bad and realize it’s all good….”-Shimmer Girl

This came about from a discussion Here See “Thank you for those words”.

Now, I’m not a mind reader, so really S G can tell us what she meant by that better than I can, since it’s her words.

Not to put Shimmer on the spot here, but more just for “historical reference.” That statement really had me curious as to what she meant. So, I asked her what she meant and got no answer. And I will confess that I even went so far as to ask someone else what they thought she might have meant. Again, no answer. (Although, they may have thought I’m not S G, so how would I know?) But, I’ve been thinking that maybe this whole thing was some message from the universe that I was supposed to figure it out myself.

Here’s what I think. The good, well good is good. And the bad is still bad, but with the bad still comes opportunities for learning and growth. Maybe even chances to be better, chances to be wiser.

The conscious mind and the subconscious mind. 19 months ago

Your subconscious mind will accept everyting that your conscious mind chooses to think.

Your conscious mind can therefore be used to re-program your subconscious mind, since your subconscious mind will have to accept it!

Choices 19 months ago

For the average person I would venture to say that only about 2 to 3% of what you have/will/are experiencing in life, past, present, or future is not because of your own personal choices.

Unless you have been conditioned, (and you can alter that.), or brainwashed (and you can maybe be deprogrammed.) then your beliefs have been chosen by you as well.

If you believe something to be true, then you are choosing to believe it is true. If you act in accordance with your beliefs, you are choosing your actions. Even if you believe that hellfire, or purgatory, or eternal damnation awaits you if you don’t comply, then you are choosing to believe in those things. A Christian chooses to be a Christian, just as a Buddhist chooses to be a Buddhist. Unless they have been brainwashed, a Communist chooses to be Communist, just as a Fascist chooses to be Fascist.

Only about 2 to 3% of our entire lives are devoid of being goverened by our choices. Becoming aware of this, is empowering, and enlightening and creates a great sense of freedom.

And believing that something is true, no matter how strongly we believe it does not make it true. There is a difference between what you believe to be true, and what can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to be true. And even the latter gets proven, because someone chooses to do so.

You choose what you believe. Even if someone put a gun to your head and told you what to believe, just simply that one time alone would not change your beliefs. You might say what they wanted to hear, or act accordingly, but your beliefs wouldn’t change because of it.

Beliefs are powerful. You are in control of them. It is your choice.
