A Beautiful Mind (2001 winner) 2 months ago

18. Just finished this one – magnificent! Then mind is such a complex and beautiful thing. It never ceases to amaze me jsut how complex – this movie captures it well.

The Departed (2006 winner) 2 months ago

17. Cool movie – so many twists and turns! And unexpected ending… left me thinking and wondering. Don’t be put off by the beginning, it is somewhat confusing, but pay attention because it unravels later on.

Kramer vs Kramer (1979 winner) 2 months ago

16. A good movie – the little kid was an awesome actor – no wonder he was nominated for best supporting actor! I didn’t cry even though I was told I would! Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep are so young!

Crash (2005 winner) 2 months ago

15. Excellent movie. Written really well to highlight racism – but more the misunderstandings of race than tolerance. So many well known actors too.

The English Patient (1996 winner) 3 months ago

14. Not a favourite – was a nice enough story and well acted but was too long and slow. I think the relationships could have been developed further.

Shakespeare in Love (1998 winner) 3 months ago

13. A beautiful movie, of course, but really it is just Romeo and Juliet retold. Granted, it is very cleverly done and I love Shakespeare but I am still a little baffled how it won – I really would argue that all of the other nominees were more outstanding films (Elizabeth, Saving Private Ryan, The Thins Red Line and Life is Beautiful {would be my pick}).

The Silence of the Lambs (1991 winner) 4 months ago

12. EWWW – so gross but good. Can’t wait to rent the sequels, but definitely won’t watch alone at night!

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975 winner) 4 months ago

11. Great movie – so many well known actors just starting out. Definitely recommended! Jack Nicholson is great! Apparently the book is even better so I must get onto that.

Annie Hall (1977 winner) 4 months ago

10. Funny movie – probably one of the first to use talking directly to the audience. Woody Allen is a crack up. Definitely an interesting and different movie.

Gone With The Wind (1939 winner) 4 months ago

9. What a long, epic movie. Was well done and didn’t drag – which is remarkable for a movie that is just under 4 hours long! Interesting storyline and some fabulous dresses!
