I’ve been accepted into the Masters of Education program, and have met with my advisor, and made plans to start course work this semester. The day after I filled out all of the paperwork for financial aid, my boss told me that I need to be in Chile for two or three months, starting in early September. While I’m excited to finally begin the field work in Chile, I was disappointed that I would need to put graduate school off for a semester.
Now, after another long conversation with my advisor, I’ve found an online course that I can take even while I’m out of the country. So, I get to both work in South America for several weeks, and make a good start on the graduate work.
Eventually, I’m probably going to come up against a conflict between work and school that’s not as easily resolved, but for the moment, I can keep both my job and my dreams of a Masters degree.
