I had all four removed yesterday uner general anaesthetic. It was not bad at all, I just remember being upset when they woke me up in recovery as I was in the middle of a dream.
The oral surgeon must have been fantastic as I have no swelling and have not needed any pain killers. I do have lots of stitches though.
I had the surgery in a small private hospital were I have my own room and bed to nap in while I waited for the operation, and my husband was able sleep there too while he waited for me!
If you are thinking of having them out, this is the way to go, and if your in Sydney, go to Dr Hook in St Leonards!

This time tomorrow I will have (finally) completed this goal. And will look like a chipmunk.
There are a couple of things that worry me:
I get very grumpy, cold and light-headed when I don’t eat and I can’t have breakfast of lunch tomorrow.
I really don’t want a bit swollen face.
I can’t imagine being unable to do anything for more than 1-2 days.
Thanks for all the good wishes…. will let you know how it goes.

Thank you to everyone that has sent me advice, sympathy and good wishes for this. My teeth are still firmly in my gums until the end of this month. I am doing a lot of teaching at the moment and wanted the surgery rescheduled for the semester break so I had lots of time to recover and didn’t have to try and teach with a sore mouth!

I made an appointment with an oral surgeon for August 1. When I phoned they also got me to book into the hospital for my surgery – the date is August 4!

My dental appointment was over too quickly last week as the dentist’s assistant left eary because her grandad died. This meant I could only have a consultation and had too book in for a clean the next week. I was a bit annoyed about this as a) I wanted it all done and once and b) they charged me extra for two appointments when I originally only asked for one.
Even WORSE the dentist chipped one of my front teeth! I realised once I returned home and immediately went back. Another dentist sanded it smooth for me and said I could either leave it like that or get a filling. I have NO FILLINGS to date and am so annoyed I may need one due to my trip to the dentist.
This second dentist also said I needed my wisdom teeth out and sent my x-rays off to a specialist…

I lost by diary (found it in Jeremy’s back pack a few days later…) and forgot my dental appointment. BUT they called me and I rescheduled for the afternoon. I have healthy teeth! Although it was only a consultation and I have to go back next week for cleaning.
In the new dentist’s opinion, since there is no evidence of infection she wants to monitor my wisdom teeth for 6-12 months before removing them. Hooray! I don’t need to schedule for these to be taken out for a while!

Saw a new dental suite has moved into my building – how convenient! I just made a booking for next week. Hopefull the dentist will tell me I don’t need them out ;)
I will ask for a referral so I can get some current x-rays taken and another specialist appointment.

I need the bottom ones out as there is not enough room for them to come through any further. I top ones are apparently “useless and too hard to brush” according to my dentist.
I had x-rays and saw a specialist a two years ago, but was too busy with my PhD to take the time off for the procedure. I haven’t been to the dentist for over a year as he always tells me off for not having them out and I really don’t feel like sitting there listening to that.
