As any story would begin with a character or multiple characters depending on what you are working on, for me particularly I am working on three primary characters currently for the novel that will come from a dream once I figure out the character I can build on it. To give each character a bio also gives you a chance to put the pieces together bringing each bit of the character into the whole mix.
Not to mention in a book it is more a matter of description in text not so much in pictures, though the picture above is a bit of inspiration, that is one part of a landscape picture.
