Someone close to me used to say all the time, “[You or This Thing or Whoever/Whatever] Totally Made My Day Today.” I never really understood what was the big deal, or what he meant, because all of the things he mentioned seemed so small and insignificant. I also thought it was a super cheesy thing to say.
Now I wonder if it is, or if there’s something more. I guess it’s an inherent gift to be able to appreciate small things and believing that they can make a difference. It’s easy to forget that generosity matters and being so damn self-absorbed all the time isn’t the best way to be. The ultimate test of which is to be generous to people in whom you don’t have an apparent interest and those that you can’t expect anything from in return. It means being kind to strangers.
