Bah, at second glance, no Anastasia. I’ll always think of that animated movie, and it’s a cop out. No more Stacy, no matter how covered up in a longer name it is.

All right. Maybe not Leona May. But Anastasia May gives me more of what I want. It’s a lengthening of my current name and a shortening of my middle name; it lets me make a few nicknames that I don’t think sound too bad; and it lets me define myself in a way that I couldn’t before. It makes my name more special to me, because it has meaning – it’s the name I have chosen for myself.
I’ve always disliked my first name and my middle name is very common, so I’d like to change those in addition to my last name (because I no longer want to be associated with the family whose name I share).
I’ve chosen a name for myself that I believe speaks to me and sounds modest – no Lucille Belladonna Sparkleprincess McGuinness or something crazy like that.
A few weeks ago, I changed my MSN name to Leona. I like that name; it’s simple and easy for everyone to pronounce, plus I don’t know many people with that name (and they’re probably all women!).
So, Leona May? I like it! :)
