go to burning man

After Flipside this year, my resolve to attend Burning Man is even stronger. It will not, however, be this year. Between my car dying and trying to get back to school, there’s just no money and time. But next year, several of my friends are considering going, so the timing might work out better then anyways.

My friends have tried to dissuade me from this goal, telling me only burnouts and druggies attend Burning Man. They urge me to look at the long recovery time required by those we’ve known who have attended before. But all I can hold in my heart is inward glow that swells everytime any of them tell a story from that period, when they describe the community, the spirit, the people. I want that heart knowledge.

Fuck it. I’m going.

My friend Blaine just came back from Burning Man and between his stories of the desert and the moon and fire and art, and the pictures of the event on the Wired.com RSS feed, I am filled with desire to go myself.

Unfortunately, unless I have another job, I won’t be able to go next year, so I’m hoping for a better job or resigning myself to visiting Burning Man 2009.
