I’d love to attend the O’Reilly Emerging Tech Conference. Loads of smart geeks in a room for three days? Yes please! Plus a chance to socialise with some of the names I’ve seen on mailing lists & blogs over the years.
Hurdles to overcome:- The Cash: I’d need a grand for registration, $400 for flights and a few hundred for accommodation ($195 a night at the conference hotel?! Sod that)
- Time off work: Will I have 4 days off available by March?
- The missus: Will she let me go off to San Diego for a week without her?
- Can I somehow work out a reason to get work to pay for this? There must be some session that applies to what I’m working on.
