play the piano

My son D is kindly storing my furniture until I return to South Africa. This includes the piano I used for many years, which belongs to my ex. On a visit by my daughter M, she casually remarked to D’s partner, JK, that we used to get this deaf guy from a neighbouring town to tune the piano. Luckily D overheard this, and corrected her with a ‘Sis, the guy wasn’t deaf, he was blind!’, which had them all crying with laughter, and me too, when he told me the story. M is blonde, and she hates blonde jokes especially when she’s the target. Although she’s more than ok in the intelligence department, she sometimes acts a little ‘blonde’, like in this instance, saying something without thinking, thereby leaving her defenses wide open.
(I think, theoretically, it would be possible for a deaf person to tune an instrument by feeling the vibrations, however; in practise, it would be highly unlikely.)
