I remember the movie starring Michael J. Fox based upon Jay McInerney’s book “Bright Lights, Big City” as being a little faster paced than the book turned out to be. But I was very happy with the book actually.
It took just a little more than a day to finish, and reminded me quite a bit of his contemporary writer Bret Easton Ellis (who’s book “Lunar Park” is one of my favorites of 2006 and quite possibly all time).

I finished Dave Eggers’ “You Shall Know Our Velocity!” last year, and now my wife is reading it. So I picked up the collection of short stories by Eggers: “How We Are Hungry.” Pretty good, especially the stories that call back “YSKOV!” characters.

Dunno … but let’s say 2007.
So far finished this year (but started in 2006):
“Waiting Period” by Hubert Selby, Jr.
Came across this book at Half Priced Books here in Indy for $4 hardcover so I had to pick it up. I finished it by skimming it more than reading it and couldn’t really get passed the way Selby wrote it: very broken, stream of consciousness. Didn’t care for it, but it’s done.
