I’m very happy to have all my money back – not only every bad cent that I spent at the useless garage, but every subsequent cent I had to spend to correct what they’d done wrong. I have to give Steve Morrey credit: he takes responsibility for his staff’s mistakes.

I still feel a little guilty that I may have caused trouble with the boss for these mechanics or even the service advisers, but they SO richly deserved it for cheating me, as they did, that even they would have to admit I was justified in complaining. I’m sorry, but $1500 is a lotta cabbage to take to wreck someone’s brakes, and I couldn’t let them get away with it.

That’s how much the garage I’ve been using owes me. They dicked me around and told me nothing was wrong with my hand brake (all the while charging me for “diagnostic time”), even though it failed to release every single time I used it. While they played dumb, the warranty on the sticking calipers causing the problem expired.

They also charged me to needlessly replace my park brake cables. Not only were the cables not the source of the problem, but the new cables didn’t fit my car. They were hanging on by their last thread and the calipers had to be miscalibrated in order to connect to them. So they effectively took my money to put my car into further disrepair.

Now that I’ve finally found a decent garage (Swedish Autosport, highly recommended), they’ve fixed everything, but I’m still out the money I gave the bastards at the first garage not to fix the problem, plus the money I had to spend at the good garage to make the original repair (which should have been made while the errant parts were still under warranty), plus the money I had to spend fixing the damage caused by the first garage.

I’ve written to complain to the owner of the crap garage, but he hasn’t responded. If he continues to ignore me, I’ll cancel my Visa payments and file a complaint with Consumer Affairs. They’re not getting away with this.
