wOOt! Praticed in the studio for 90 minutes at 105F. I wasn’t sure if I was going to make the whole session but I did. This is a lot more intense than my 30 minute home workouts but, I hope, well worth it.
The instuctor promised us that if we train at least twice a week, “It will change your life.” I’m a believer.
With hot yoga you sweat a lot (even if you don’t normally sweat that much). Consequently, you need to put a towel over your mat. The problem with this is that the towel doesn’t cover the entire mat and can slip. I found this elegant solution: yogitoes (http://www.yogitoes.com/shop.shtml) Not cheap ($50) but I think it will be worth every penny. It is also nice to know that a portion of profits go to things like pediatric AIDS research.

Hi guys. Long time since my last update.
A friend of mine started a yoga studio … so now I don’t have any excuses not to get back to it!
Rebooting now….

I have been doing pretty well at this goal. For the first time during these weeks I have attended a real 1.5 hour yoga class twice. These are a level above what I had previously been doing. After this ten week class ends, I might go out and find a Yoga studio so I can continue this type of training.
On the 6 other days still (trying) to do the Rodney Yee thing, but after these classes this is like a walk in the park… (but I like walking in the park, so its okay).
Hey, the year is 1/4th over… I am maybe 5% more flexible than when it started. Can’t complain about that!

I am pretty much running back on the rails though I haven’t been checking in like I should.
The big news is that my work is going to hold a Yoga class every week for the next 10 weeks starting this Tuesday.
So far I have just been doing everything on my own with the R.Yee program. Since it is starting to get a bit old hat and I am feeling more confident, it is a good time for me to try a real class.

Making a comeback from my cold, and my crazy job. I only did one of my “standard” R. Yee sessions, and that was yesterday. Sounds like everyone has been a little off.
Yoga, as far as I can tell, is about being good to your body. Sometimes that means taking yourself to “the edge” but sometimes it just means doing relaxation poses.
As I am doing my routines this week I will be thinking of you all. Namaste.

Week six was going well (5 for 5) and then disaster struck. Well, not really a disaster, I just caught a cold. I think I probably was pushing myself a little too hard (not at yoga, per se) but just things in general and my body decided to fight back!
My voice is still an octave or so lower than normal and I will spend most of this weekend recovering.
I might do some lighter yoga from today as I am feeling much better but don’t think I will be back in swing until maybe Tuesday of next week.
If any of you has been putting off the regular practice, lets get it started together next week.

Back on track again. Only 4/7 this week but 4/4 since the last time I updated my status. I am going in the right direction.
While I am doing my daily routine (Rodney Yee, Power Yoga for Flexibility) sometimes my mind races to other things. When I do this the time blinks by but I don’t feel as streched and relaxed at the end.

This week 5 of 7. That is up from 4 out of 7 last week but still short of what I was shooting for. Okay… for this, the last week of January 2006 I am going for 7 for 7. I still need to make good on all of those nice cheers I got last week!
Starting to see hit the wall. The steady gains I was making in flexibilty are starting to slow down. Need to maintain patience and keep going with this.

Okay… not the stellar yoga week I was hoping for but not too shabby either. (The company I work for had its 25th anniversary celebration and things got pretty hectic.) I practiced ~30 min 4 of the 7 days. Going for 7 for 7 next week though. !!!
Earlier in the week I had extremely lucid dream in which I became paralyzed, my body broken beyond repair. Needless to say, after I woke up, the lingering memory of the dream added special significance to my sun salutations the next morning. What a gift to be able to practice and pay homage to my inner essence in such a physical way. I really need to be careful not to take it for granted.
Anyway, don’t mean to sound depressing. Go team go!
Namaste
PS: My weakest pose… wide angle forward bend… oh my gosh I am bad at that pose.
