Does this count? #14 - Swiss, Cheddar, Pepperoni Grilled Cheese, and Chip crumb puree 6 days ago

So, my parents’ fridge is not the best stocked I’ve ever seen it this week, so pick-and-grab night was a bit of a strange one. I’m pretty sure the slices of bread were from different loaves, and I KNOW the cheese was the last bits of several blocks. I almost resorted to shredded. It was a tasty Frankensandwich, though!

The side I ate with this was the crumbs from three bags of chips held together into an edible form with a dab of sour cream. Not the best, but edible.

I think my for my next food, I should try for something….healthy.

#13 - Mashed potatoes with onions 3 weeks ago

Mashed potatoes are awesome, the greasier, the better.

The Egman found some leftover chopped onions in my fridge and threw them into the mashed potatoes…RAW!!

I think I’ll pass on eating them this way again. The onions need to be cooked, and there needs to be an accompianing flavor so it’s not so in-your-face.

#12 - Pasta Plus with tomato juice 4 weeks ago

I kinda sorta ran out of easy-to-make food for lunches, but I had a box of wheat pasta with Omega-3 and a bunch of other additives that I got from work, and a leftover jar of tomatoes that only had one piece in it. So I cooked the pasta in the tomato juice (which is from home canning, so it’s mostly water, not like storebought stuff at all) and ate it with some grated cheese.

Yum! Tastiest I’m-poor-and-somewhat-lazy meal ever!

#11 - Wasa light rye crispbread 1 month ago

Got a coupon for a free package of Wasa crispbread, so I figured it couldn’t hurt to try them out.

Good stuff! They’re very dry, but we broke them up into small pieces and tried a bunch of different toppings for our afternoon snack. Cream cheese, peanut butter, cheese slices, olive oil w/lemon powder, and jam were all pretty good toppings. The package shows lunch meat and cherry tomatoes…we’ll have to try that next time we have some.

Just goes to show the best marketing is to give it away for free! I think we’ve successfully replaced our nacho habit with a Wasa habit! (Though I imagine cheese and sour cream would taste good on Wasa, too…)

#10 - Talapia 2 months ago

Or is it Tilapia? Not sure.

First fish I’ve eaten in a long time! It was mostly lemon-y, but had a really good texture. I had to heat mine back up because I was at the end of the serving line, but it stood up well in the microwave. I don’t think I could prepare this myself, but I would order or ask the Egman to make it if I had the chance!

(Can you tell it was “try new foods” night at work? I chickened out on the salmon…its pinkness freaked me out.)

Edit: there was a coupon for Tilapia at the store today…but they were all out!!!! nooooooooo!

#9 - V8 Cranberry Blackberry Fusion 2 months ago

This is supposed to have vegetables in it. It tastes like juice to me. It’s expensive, so I’ll probably skip on buying it unless it goes on sale. It really doesn’t have any less sugar than normal juice either.

Verdict: good, but nothing so special as to make me spend extra to get it.

#8 - Soy "Cheese" 2 months ago

I’m sorry, but no. I’ll stick with real cheese, thank you.

Imagine Velveeta gone slightly bad…with a annoyingly persistent aftertaste.

#7 - Enchiladas 2 months ago

The Egman’s roommate’s mother made them. Except for the olives, which I scraped off and gave to the roomie, they were good!

#6 - Jicama 2 months ago

Tastes like almonds, consistency of a fresh apple. It was good, but I think it needs to be eaten with something else.

#5 - Wheat pasta and dining hall sauce 2 months ago

It may have been good had it been warm. I choked most of it down, then got rid of the flavor with a glass of chocolate milk and a perfectly ripe banana. Not great spaghetti, but okay meal at the dining hall.
