plant a garden

The garden is officially dead. I got tired of hauling water and pulling grass. We had tomatoes, squash, cucumber, and bell pepper. There was some okra and a watermelon growing.

Next year I’ll plant more cucumbers and buy some canning jars to make pickles. And maybe some homemade salsa. And some purple hull peas.

I’m starting to see bell pepper now. Yay! Something I’ll actually eat!

I still didn’t get all the grass pulled up though.

The garden still seems to be doing okay, except that I REALLY have to pull the grass up. I started that today, but I only got half a row done.

I finally got cages around all the tomato plants. There are several little tomatoes growing.

The squash are doing well, too.

get some stakes and cages for the tomato plants and pull up some of the grass that’s growing back, but it seems to be doing okay.

The plants in the garden seem to be doing well. The tomato plants are over 6 inches tall now.

The plants in pots are not doing so well. I think they aren’t getting enough sun…and maybe too much water.

I don’t think the okra is going to make it. I think they have root rot. I looked it up online, and it said they don’t grow well in pots. I transplanted them to the garden, but I think I waited to late. I’ll see how they look this weekend, and maybe plant some of the other plants there instead.

My mom and I planted a small garden. It’s only 4 rows about 13 feet long…so far. I may extend the rows and plants something else later this week.

We planted tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, squash, okra, canteloupes and watermelons.

This is the first time I’ve ever planted anything.
