i think the universe is trying tell me something…
hubby was taking a large table top upstairs, I then heard the loudest crash i have ever heard and hubby swearing….
drop what i am doing and rush to sound of tremendous noise…first reason to be grateful, hubby didnt fall down the stairs
2nd reason to be grateful hubby has not dropped new table
3rd reason to be grateful…my large, 4ft square, balinese mirror has cartwheeled down the stairs and landed on the telephone… but neither mirror or telephone are totalled
hubby explained thus… must have caught mirror’s edge, pulling it off one of its nails (the right hand one) it hangs onto the left hand one but too heavy… as it falls it hits the skirting board (half inch dent to show its passage down stairs) then bounces like a square wheel, bounce 1, bounce 2, bounce wheeeeee flies into the air over the chair at bottom of stairs, knicking it slightly (but preventing it smashing into the very hard ceramic tiles… and then into the bags of recycling waiting to go out
reasons 4 and 5 to be grateful, it managed to miss the flooring, neither shattering the glass nor denting the floor
(previous owners, kindly restored it to its origional victorian splendour)
and its force was taken by a garbage bag (full of bean tins) and the telephone… that was attached to the antique vestible with antique glass in it
all things being equal, the mirror should have bought it, as well as the floor and it reached the glass door, so that should have been totalled too
but in the end it just loosened the joins in the mirror’s frame and hubby was able to tap that gingerly back into place and put the mirror back on the wall
as i said i love my life, i am still very grateful, and i am touching wood (reaches back and taps bedpost) oh yes i am very grateful!!
(so ok universe, you can stop now)
