learn world geography

I’ve mastered the countries, but I would really like to know all of the capitals—and maybe some geologic/topographic features. Especially for commonly referenced things like – “The Balkan Mountains” or “The Rhine River”.

I just got a perfect score on my European Geography Quiz

It doesn’t quiz capitals, though, which is unfortunate.

I decided I am going to section off the world into common regions. I began with Eastern Europe. Why? I’m not sure… I decided this is as good a place to start as any. I’ve learned the geography, but am working on the capitals still—let’s see if I can list the countries from memory, starting with Greece:

- greece
- macedonia
- bulgaria
- albania
- romania
- serbia / montenegro (are these separate now or what?)
- bosnia / herzegovina
- croatia
- slovenia
- czech republic
- hungary
- slovakia
- poland

Did I miss any?

Since I support global logistics at my employer, I guess it would be a good idea to know these things. Plus I’m sick of watching the news and not having any idea exactly where places like Slovenia are.
