be the best

OK—I’m not doing my research on this one, but there’s a quote in Oceans 12 that goes something like this:

“you know this word ‘oblivion’? It is what happens to those who are only second best”

I know thats not exactly it, but anyway, it kinda illustrates my perspective on being the best. Not second best, not third best (I was third best in my HS graduating class), but THE best.

I’ve always wanted to be the best. Not just the best, really, but the best of the best. I didn’t always know “the best of .. ” WHAT- I still don’t - but I still want to be the best of the best of whatever field I occupy. It should be noted that this is just a drive, a healthy, but powerful, ambition, not a life consuming obsession. Still, it would be nice to be the best.
